Choose a resort

A member of our training team will be in touch to guide you through the process and help on finding the right internship for you.

Train and qualify

Travel to your chosen resort at the beginning of winter, meet your course mates and begin training to become a qualified instructor.

Begin instructing

As soon as you become a qualified instructor you will start working and earning as a full-time instructor with our Japanese partner ski school.

Qualifications in Japan

Your ski instructor internship in Japan will set you up with an internationally recognised instructor qualification provided by the New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance (NZSIA). Governed by the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA), NZSIA sets the minimum standard requirements for ski instructors internationally.

This ISIA affiliation opens up all sorts of opportunities as you get to work as an instructor in your pick of countries around the globe. The following ski instructor internships are available in Japan: NZSIA Level 1, NZSIA Level 2, NZSIA Teaching Children Certification. Your Instructor Job

Once you’ve ticked off your ​NZSIA Level 1 ski instructors’ exam, you’ll be offered employment in the same resort you trained in. Senior members of the snowsports school and your WE ARE SNO internship programme manager will be by your side every step of the way, making sure your transition into your new instructor role is smooth.

Our partner school for employment is Niseko Village Ski School (NVSS), busy ​and vibrant, their standard of work is high and wages are very competitive. The internship set up enables you to ​plan your season ​in advance​ and maximise your time on the slopes in Japan.
