Internship stories

Tom Maynard
Ski instructor internship

Our training in Niseko was run by Propeak, one of the most established ski schools in the area. Our trainer, Campbell, had around 18 seasons worth of experience so its some of the best coaching I’ve ever received. My skiing technique was dissected, critiqued and then built back up, so I’m skiing better than ever. The course sets you up for success and its great fun both on and off the slopes.

Dewansh Basnet
Snowboard Instructor internship

WE ARE SNO took care of everything. It felt so good to be in the experienced hands of people who know the resorts, the town, snowboarding and skiing. Delivered from the airport to our place of stay and with personal resort transport to get to and from the mountains each day was awesome. The training was progressive and once qualified we were able to transition seamlessly into employment as instructors.

Rogan Paul
Ski instructor internship

WE ARE SNO simply made everything easy. From the organisation prior to the course to the communication leading up to departure. We met our program manager at the airport and it didn’t take long to settle into resort life. We were fully prepared for the exams with excellent guidance from our trainers. The experience continues to be extraordinary with the help of ongoing support from the team at We Are Sno.

Jak Bower
Ski instructor internship

The whole experience was amazing. We all worked hard for the qualification, but we had plenty of time to chill. The accommodation was everything we needed with comfy beds, and only a short walk from the slopes and bars. The quality of the training definitely gave us the upper hand compared to similar programs and the 100% pass rate is proof. I could not recommend this more to anyone thinking about working a ski season abroad.

Your Instructor Job

Once you’ve ticked off your NZSIA Level 1 ski instructors’ exam, you’ll be offered employment in the same resort you trained in. Senior members of the snowsports school and your WE ARE SNO internship programme manager will be by your side every step of the way, making sure your transition into your new instructor role is smooth.

The ski schools we work with in Japan are busy and vibrant, their standard of work is high and wages are competitive. The course set up enables you to plan your season in advance and maximise your time on the slopes.
