Snowboard Destinations

Traditionally snowboard instructor internship positions are fewer in number and harder to come by than on the ski side of things. That usually means we have less places available each year and competition is fierce. For those lucky enough to secure a spot, we have carefully selected three, fantastic, snowboard-friendly destinations, that have everything in place to facilitate an incredible winter season. Between them they have the perfect balance of powder, play and performance training. Our Japanese programmes are located in an area famed for abundant snow conditions, Niseko and Furano are both on the northern island of Hokkaido. Over in North America we have Canada’s Mount Washington and Le Massif, both set in breathtaking locations with quality terrain and abundant snowfall. Lastly we have Wanaka in New Zealand. This cosmopolitan ski town is packed full of diversity, with a lake as its focal point and in close proximity to two major mountains.

Instructor Qualifications

A snowboard instructor internship gets you an internationally recognised instructor qualification provided by an ISIA-sanctioned national associations.*

We work with the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) for our Canadian internships, and Snowboard Instruction New Zealand (SBINZ) for our Japanese and NZ internships. The qualifications you get through these certification providers mean you can legally work as an instructor in Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, South America and the USA.

The level 1 snowboard internship programme is perfect if you want to get a season under your belt and a taste of life as an instructor. The combined Level 1 and 2 training programme with freestyle, teaching children and avalanche certification is ideal if you’re considering a career in snowsports.

*ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association) is the world body for professional snowsports instructors. It sets the minimum standard requirements for skiers and snowboarders internationally.
